NPR is the home to storytelling across America. Our NPR Poster Series explores unique artists across America who show dedication to innovation in their craft and represent our mission of storytelling.
Our Limited Edition Poster Series encourages artists to interpret that statement into their own artistic vision, resulting in a collection of art pieces that each represent a unique perspective on storytelling.
Luke Martin of Suburban Avenger Studios is the artist for our inaugural poster. To create his design, Martin focused on the different ways public radio supporters across all generations have listened to NPR. From a traditional transistor radio to an iPod classic, Martin's piece depicts a city constructed of listening devices that transcend time. Martin wanted to emphasize the different ways NPR has connected listeners across America, and the world. Each poster is signed and numbered by the artist.
This poster will be a beautiful addition to any NPR lover’s home, office or any open space.
About the artist:
With a moniker like Suburban Avenger, you've got to have an adventurous spirit and a willingness to take risks. That’s exactly what Luke Martin had when he left Towson University in 2016 to pursue his passion of screen printing and illustration. Martin’s work has become popularized due in part to his collaboration with many high profile musical acts such as Death Cab for Cutie, Arctic Monkeys and Childish Gambino. His unique method of using both illustration and screen printing results in rich art that feels immersive to the viewer.
