This second compilation of From the Top highlights features solo and ensemble performances by some of the most extraordinary pre-college age young musicians ever featured on the program. Host Christopher O'Riley can be heard accompanying soloists on several of the tracks.
Among the highlights of this 16-track CD are:
- Soliloquy, from Sonata for Cello and Piano, an original composition written by 15-year-old composer Athena Adamopoulos and performed by cellist Yo-Yo Ma and pianist Christopher O'Riley
- Handel's "V'adoro pupille" from Julius Caesar performed by 17-year-old soprano Lauren Criddle
- Ravel's Alborada del gracioso performed by 17-year-old pianist Robert Kwok
- Debussy's Beau Soir performed by 15-year-old violinist Bella Hristova
- Gliere's Nocturne, Op. 35, No. 10 performed by 17-year-old French horn player Megan Cullen
- Shostakovich's Quintet in G Minor, Op. 57: Prelude and Scherzo performed by the Versailles Quintet
